Description: SouthernRedBackedVoleVoleOverallRange is an ESRI SDE Feature Class encompassing the observed and predicted range of a population of Southern Red-backed Vole in Colorado. Southern Red-backed Vole is primarily associated with moist and well-developed coniferous forests. They are most abundant in lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta) stands, usually between 8,000 and 11,000 feet.This information was derived from species experts. A variety of data capture techniques were used including implementation of the SmartBoard Interactive Whiteboard using stand-up, real-time digitizing at various scales (Cowardin, M., M. Flenner. March 2003. Maximizing Mapping Resources. GeoWorld 16(3):32-35). Various sources were referenced in developing these data including Mammals of Colorado, and CPW Scientific Collection data.This generalized graphic representation of species range data is provided for informational purposes only and has not been prepared for, nor is it suitable for, any type of legal, regulatory, or site specific planning purposes.
